TV shows & Movies to watch in December 2017 [Emz]

Thursday 30 November 2017

So as tomorrow is the beginning of December, I thought I would post about upcoming TV and Movies that are being released this month.

If you have any in mind that I don't mention, feel free to comment.

The Crown - Season 2

I watched the whole of Season 1 last November/ December following it's release and I loved it.

I am really looking forward to Season 2. Claire Foy portrays the Queen very well, she is very convincing and Matt Smith portrays Prince Phillip, Duke Of Edinburgh.

The first Season revolved around the marriage of Princess Elizabeth and Prince Phillip's marriage in 1947 to Queen Elizabeth II's ascension to the throne following the death of her father King George VI in 1952. It also followed on from there and followed the rest of the royal family including Princess Margaret until 1955.

The Second season is supposed to pick up in 1956 and is rumored to be leading through the births for Prince Andrew and Prince Edward. It will cover the Suez Crisis and Princess Margaret's relationship and marriage to Antony Armstrong-Jones and beyond.

Season 2 of The Crown will be released on Netflix on the 8th December 2017.

Pitch Perfect 3

So, the first Pitch Perfect film was released in 2012 and it's sequel in 2015.

I enjoyed both film immensely. I didn't know that I was going to expect when I went to see the first one but I loved it.

This film as well as the other two have starred, Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow, Rebel Wilson, Anna Camp, Alexis Knapp, Hana Mae Lee and Ester Dean. Hailee Steinfeld is back portraying the character Emily Junk from Pitch Perfect 2.

Unlike the last 2 films number 3 is being directed by Trish Sie instead of Elizabeth Banks.

Here is the synopsis:

After the highs of winning the World Championships, the Bellas find themselves split apart and discovering there aren’t job prospects for making music with your mouth. But when they get the chance to reunite for an overseas USO tour, this group of awesome nerds will come together to make some music, and some questionable decisions, one last time.

Pitch Perfect 3 is out in Cinemas on the 20th December 2017.

Doctor Who Christmas Special - Twice Upon A Time

So series 10 of Doctor Who finished earlier this year and led us in to a sneak peek of this years Christmas Special.

The special this year is called Twice Upon A Time.

We have Peter Capaldi returning for his last outing (possibly for now) as the 12th Doctor and Pearl Mackie and Bill Potts. We are also reintroduced to David Bradley stepping into William Hartnell's shoes once again as the 1st Doctor. He last appeared at William Hartnell/ 1st Doctor in 2013's An Adventure in Space and Time for Doctor Who's 50th Anniversary.

Here is the synopsis:
"The magical final chapter of the Twelfth Doctor’s (Peter Capaldi) journey sees the Time Lord team up with his former self, the first ever Doctor (David Bradley - Harry Potter, Game of Thrones) and a returning Bill Potts (Pearl Mackie), for one last adventure. Two Doctors stranded in an Arctic snowscape, refusing to face regeneration. Enchanted glass people, stealing their victims from frozen time. And a World War One captain destined to die on the battlefield, but taken from the trenches to play his part in the Doctor's story. An uplifting new tale about the power of hope in humanity’s darkest hours, Twice Upon A Time marks the end of an era. But as the Doctor must face his past to decide his future, his journey is only just beginning…"
This is the final episode for the 12th Doctor and we shall get a cameo from Jodie Whittaker as the 13th Doctor.

This festive hour long episode will air on Christmas Day on BBC One.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi

So, it's been two years since the last main Star Wars installment, The Force Awakens and a year since Rogue One.

Episode 8 also known as The Last Jedi is almost here.

Here is the Synopsis:
Rey develops her newly discovered abilities with the guidance of Luke Skywalker, who is unsettled by the strength of her powers. Meanwhile, the Resistance prepares to do battle with the First Order.

The film will be released on the 13th December 2017.

Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle

So it's been 22 years since the original Jumanji film starring Robin Williams and young Kirsten Dunst was released and we now have a sequel. A completely different cast and it's a board game no longer.

The film stars, Jack Black, Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan and Kevin Hart, along with Nick Jonas and Bobby Cannavale.

Here is the synopsis:
Twenty years after the events of the first film, the infamous board game has evolved into a video game and while cleaning out a school's basement serving detention, four teenagers find it and get sucked into the same jungle setting that Alan Parrish got sucked into all those years ago. They also become their avatars inside the game and the only way out is to play along and finish it.

The film does look good. I just hope it can do well as it has some high standards to match up to the success of the first film.

Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle will be released on the 20th December 2017.

The Greatest Showman

I have seen the trailer for this film quite a few times at the cinema and am really looking forward to watching it.

The film stars Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams, Zac Efron, Recbecca Fergusson and Zendaya.

Here is the Synopsis:
Inspired by the imagination of P. T. Barnum, The Greatest Showman is an original musical that celebrates the birth of show business & tells of a visionary who rose from nothing to create a spectacle that became a worldwide sensation.

This looks incredible and the music was produced by the same people who did La La Land.

This film is released on Boxing day in the UK and the 20th December in the US.

That's all for now. If you think I've missed any or there are any that you are looking forward to feel free to comment.

Till next time

With the support of his mum, Auntie Ray, his best friend Pritti and Hugo he discovered who his inner Drag is and be able to live out his Dream as a drag queen and basically look fabulous at his prom.

Review:

On the 18th November I had a chance to see my favorite musical at the west end for the first time since it original run at the Crucible theatre in Sheffield.

Now as it had quite a lot of the original cast in it. I knew it was going to be outstanding. I honestly can't fault them. The new cast members was so lovely, and really talented, and who said drag can't sing wrong, as there were couple of Drags up there who have stunning voices.

With the theme of songs there are a mix of upbeat to songs that little cry yourself to sleep, quick I basically did. Mainly to Ugly in this Ugly world, which is a very powerful emotional song, which sits to close to my heart, as I been there.

One of the strong storyline is between Jamie and his mum, as she always been his rock. From a young age she saw something special in him, that nobody else could see.

All I can say go see it, it make you laugh, cry, smile and sing.

Slowing down

Sunday 19 November 2017

Hey guys! this is not a review... sorry... But I just wanted to let you know that I am slowing with the blog.

It has happened that I am the only one posting. I started this hoping that it would be something fun for myself and my friends, butt it is getting stressful to keep it running by myself.

I tried to see if anyone else was interested but no one has come forward.

I won't stop posting but it won't be for a while or so often. I work 4 days a week and really don't have time to keep writing reviews as often.

I hope you understand and will enjoy what is posted in the future.

Take care

TV Review: Doctor Who Christmas Special 2005 "The Christmas Invasion" [Emz]

Wednesday 15 November 2017

So this is one of my favourite episodes. I loved David Tennant's proper introduction as the 10th incarnation of The Doctor.

Here we have a few familiar faces popping up in this episodes. We have Rose's mum - Jackie (Camille Coduri) and Rose's Boyfriend/ ex-boyfriend - Mickey Smith (Noel Clarke). We also have a reappearance of Harriet Jones (Penelope Wilton). She was last seen in the double episodes Aliens of London and World War Three.

This episode was 1 hour long instead of 45 minutes like the series.

This episode aired on Chistmas Day 2005 (25th December) on BBC One.

Here is the Synopsis:

It's Christmas Eve and high above London, the alien Sycorax are holding the Earth for ransom. The Tenth Doctor must recover from his regeneration in time to save the human race from slavery.

Review:

I have loved this episode for a long time now. This episode pick up almost straight away from the end of The Parting of Ways.

The Doctor is still going through the regeneration process and instead of going to Barcelona (the planet not the city) he takes Rose home. This just happens to coincide with Christmas Eve.

The Doctor greets Jackie and Mickey on landing wishing them a Merry Christmas and then collapses.

They take the unconscious Doctor back to Jackie's flat and dress in in Pyjamas.

The events that follow obviously leave you thinking whats going on and in my case a bit of laughter for the second of the two events.

So Mickey and Rose go Christmas shopping. Whilst out Rose notices they are being followed by a Santa brass band, as the Santas get closer, the aim their instruments and shoot fire at Rose and Mickey.

When they get back to Jackie's flat after being unsuccessful getting hold of Jackie on the phone, Rose notices a new Christmas Tree in the Living Room, almost on cue the tree begins spinning forcefully and destroying the living room. The amusing t]thing about this was Jackie exclaiming "I'm going to get killed by a Christmas Tree."

Rose wakes up The Doctor who destroys the Christmas Tree and check outside to see the Santas were controlling the Tree. The Doctor exclaims they are pilot fish and then something is coming. He then collapses again after waking up to soon.

We then learn about a Space probe heading for Mars, losing signal and then regaining in. they get images from a spaceship from The Sycorax exclaiming they were coming to Earth to enslave the human race. We are reintroduced to Harriet Jones, who is now Prime Minister and still introduces herself as she did in Aliens of London but instead on MP for Flydale North, "Harriet Jones, Prime Minister" this is now followed by "Yes, we know who you are."

The Sycorax head to Earth at a rapid rate and hypnotise one third of the Human Race. this turns out to be through the blood sample A+ on the Probe that the Sycorax picked up in Space.

Once the Sycorax hit the Atmosphere Harriet Jones and her fellow co-workers are transported onto the spaceship and try to get the Sycorax to leave, with no success. Two of the people with are are killed.

Whilst this is going on, Rose, Mickey and Jackie carry the Doctor to the TARDIS to hide. Whilst trying to get the monitor working, the TARDIS signal is picked up by the Sycorax and they are transported on board, both completely unaware.

Rose ends up leaving the TARDIS to search for her mum,, just to scream when she sees she on the Sycorax ship. Mickey comes after her and just manages to shut the TARDIS door.

Rose speaks for the Planet whilst The doctor, she uses words from aliens she has met over time to try and get the Sycorax to leave, with no success.

Whilst speaking the Sycorax suddenly sound like they are speaking English, but confirmed that the Sycorax were not speaking any language but their own. So Rose realises the TARDIS is translating for them and then out steps the Doctor.

The Doctor, seemingly distracted asks Rose about his appearance before address the Sycorax leader. He quotes the Lion King whilst talking about the human race, after pressing a big red button which breaks the control the Sycorax have over One third of the human race.

After not succeeding to get rid of the Sycorax, The doctor challenges the leader to  a sword fight, during this he loses a hand, but luckily for the doctor as he is still within his Regeneration cycle, he grows a new hand.

He wins the fight but the leader comes for him, finding a Satsuma in his dressing gown, that belonged to Rose's mother's 'friend.' he fires in at a button and the leader falls off the ship.

The Doctor orders the Sycorax to leave and then they are all Transported back to earth. Harrier Jones uses Torchwood to destroy he ship as it leaving, making the Doctor very angry. He says he can take her down with just 6 words. Her tells her assistant, "Don't You Think She Looks Tired?"

Ending the episode, The doctor finds a new outfit and spends Christmas dinner with the Tylers and Mickey before Rose and The doctor decide where to go next.

I enjoyed this episode so much, from the aliens to Harriet Jones' return. I also enjoyed some brilliant quotes from Jackie and The Doctor, such s Jackie asking what else The Doctor has two of when Rose tells her he has two Hearts.

Favourite quotes - The Tenth Doctor: Look at these people, these human beings. Consider their potential! From the day they arrive on the planet, blinking, step into the sun, there is more to see than can ever be seen, more to do than - no, hold on. Sorry, that's The Lion King...

The Doctor: My head!
[groans in pain]
The Doctor: I'm having a neuron implosion... I need...
Jackie Tyler: What do you need?
The Doctor: I need...
Jackie Tyler: Just say it!
The Doctor: I need...
Jackie Tyler: Tell me, tell me, tell me!
The Doctor: I need...
Jackie Tyler: Painkillers!
The Doctor: I need...
Jackie Tyler: D'you need aspirin?
The Doctor: I need...
Jackie Tyler: Codeine? Paracetamol? Oh, I dunno, Pepto-Bismol?
The Doctor: I need...
Jackie Tyler: Liquid paraffin? Vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin E?
The Doctor: I need...
Jackie Tyler: Is it food? Something simple? Bowl of soup? Nice bowl of soup? Soup and a sandwich? Bowl of soup and a nice ham sandwich?
The Doctor: I *need* you to *shut up*!
Jackie Tyler: Oooh, he hasn't changed that much, has he?

The Doctor: We haven't got much time. If there's pilot fish then... why is there an apple in my dressing gown?
Jackie Tyler: Oh, that's Howard's, sorry.
The Doctor: He keeps apples in his dressing gown?
Jackie Tyler: He gets hungry...
The Doctor: What, he gets hungry in his sleep?
Jackie Tyler: Sometimes.

The Doctor: [still recently regenerated] Am I... Ginger?
Rose: No, you're just sort of... brown.
The Doctor: Aww, I wanted to be ginger. I've never been ginger. And you, Rose Tyler, fat lot of good you were. You gave up on me. Ooh, that was rude. Is that the kind of man I am now? Am I rude? Rude and not ginger?

Thats only a few but i'd be here for ages if I posted all of them.

I will start reviewing Series 2 soon.

Till then

DVD Review: The Librarians Season 1 Episode 6 "And The Fables Of The Doom" [Emz]

Tuesday 14 November 2017

So this was an interesting episode.. a little cringe worthy and very funny.

Here is the Synopsis:

The librarians travel to a town where fairy tales come to life and attack.

Review:

So this episode was really good in some places but very cheesy in others. The team investigate the fact that a troll dumped a man in the lake in his truck. They find a massive fingerprint on said truck. Ezekiel and Eve find the Troll.

Meanwhile, whilst Cassandra and Jake talk with the Sheriff about the strange goings on in the town, they are interrupted by the town mayor seemingly unaware that he is completely naked.

This leads to bigger problems. Jake kills a massive Wolf. It seems that all the townsfolk are slowly turning into fairy tale characters.

Jenkins names the book that they should look for as the "Libris Fabula."

Whilst some of the team interview the local Librarian about the book, Ezekiel meets a dying child called Jessie in the hospital. He teaches her how to pick locks and somehow figures out she is being drained by the book.

After rejoining the team and getting arrested, the Sheriff (who turns out to be Jessie's father) turns into the Big Bad Wolf.

The team are beginning to turn into fairy-tale characters Eve becomes the princess, Cassandra becomes Prince Charming, this explains why she was being hit on by lots of women earlier in the story. Jake is the Huntsman and Ezekiel is Jack, the nimble thief.

In the end, Ezekiel finds out that the Librarian is draining Jessie of her life force. he manages to distract him and gets Jessie to change the story and end it.

The Librarian ends up inside the book.

I enjoyed this story, It was a little cheesy though. The way Eve turned into a Princess and constantly giggled and the way Cassandra became Prince Charming.

It was rather funny though the way that the Town Mayor ended up walking around naked, it wasn't hard to remember The Emperor's new clothes.

Doctor Who: Series 1 Episode 13 "The Parting Of Ways" [Emz]

Saturday 11 November 2017

So I've reached the end of the series! Blimey!

Here we are with The Parting Of Ways. This is the last episode of the Series and Christopher Eccleston's final ever episode as The Doctor.

This episode aired originally on the 18th June 2005 on BBC One.

Here is the synopsis:

Rose and the Doctor's friendship is put to the test, as Earth plunges into an epic war with the human race being slaughtered.

Review:

The episode picks up where the last episode ended. The Doctor and Jack rescue Rose by materialising the TARDIS around her. Which is very clever if you ask me, I wouldn't have thought of it.

The Doctor learns that the Daleks survived the Time War (barely) and have been driven mad by the human values they have absorbed.

After arriving back on Floor 500, Jack and The Doctor set about building a Delta Wave to fry the Daleks brains, unfortunately they don't have as much time as needed.

They get the extrapolater covering the top 6 levels and Jack leaves to help get  volunteers ready to battle the Daleks.

The Doctor checks on the Delta Wave and realises that its not ready. He tricks Rose into the TARDIS on the pretence he can cross his own timeline. The TARDIS de-materialises with only Rose on board.

A hologram of thee doctor Appears and tells Rose that he has activated Emergency Program One and the TARDIS is taking Rose home.

Rose lands back home and is crushed. Her mum is just happy to have her home.

The Daleks force their way in on floor 494 and begin their ascent upwards.

Rose back home in the 21st Century, still upset is being told my her mum and Mickey to just get on with her life. Rose on the other hand is having none of it and tells them that The Doctor showed her a better way of living your life.

She runs into the paved area of the Estate and notices Bad Wolf scrawled all over the floor and walls, she realises there is a link between The doctor and her even though they are in different places and times.

With Mickey's help with the towtruck, Rose opens the heart of the TARDIS and they look into each other. She transports back to the Gamestation just before the Daleks shoot The Doctor.

She becomes Bad Wolf and destroys the Daleks to ashes and resurrects Jack. The Doctor realises that the power on th time vertex running though her head will kill her and kisses her to take it away. Rose passes out.

When Rose wakes up The Doctor is talking about all the things they would have done together. rose asks why they can't do those things.

The Doctor explains that the Time Lords have a way of cheating  death and he wont be the same if he gets to do them. He tells her she was fantastic and so was he and then light explodes from his hands and face. When it is all over he looks completely different.

David Tennant takes over as The Doctor.

This episode ending shocked me. i didn't read any newspapers or seen it on the TV that Christopher Eccleston was leaving so it was a huge surprise. But I looked forward to the Christmas Special.

DVD Review: Disney's Descendants [Emz]

Friday 10 November 2017

So I first watched this film last year. It originally aired in 2015 on Disney channel, but I don't have that station.

The story is set 20 years after "Beauty & the Beast." All the villains are transported onto a non-magical island Known as the Isle Of The Lost and all the Kingdoms came together under Belle and The Beast to create the United states of Auradon.

We pick up with the children of both the "heroes" and "villians."

Here is the Synopsis:

Ben, the teenaged son of King Beast and Queen Belle, invites the exiled children of defeated villains to attend a prep school with the heroes' children.

Review:

So this film keeps the theme of most Disney films.. it's musical!

So the film opens with Narration from one of the Villain kids and then we meet Prince Ben, Son of Belle and The Beast, he is soon to become King and has chosen his first proclamation. For Kids from the Isle of The Lost to be given a chance to live in Auradon.

The kids he picked are Mal, daughter of Maleficent (Dove Cameron), Evie, daughter of the Evil Queen (Sofia Carson), Carlos, son of Cruella DeVil (Cameron Boyce) and Jay, son of Jafar (Booboo Stewart).

All these characters are trying to carry on their parents legacy. Where Maleficent (Kristen Chenoweth) is the leader on the Isle, Mal is the leader of the Villain kids (VK's)

So once in Auradon, the kids try to steal Fairy godmothers magic wand, as per Maleficent request. This doesn't go to plan and the kids escape luckily before being caught.

I liked the way the kids tried to fit in even though they were having to do Maleficent bidding.

Mal puts a love spell on Ben and he falls for her immediately, he invites her on a date and goes swimming in the Enchanted lake. Mal is torn between trying to have a normal life in Auradon or going back to the Isle after stealing the wand.

After parents day goes horribly wrong for Mal after being introduced to Aurora's mother by her granddaughter (she didn't know who she was originally) a majority of the kids of Auradon gang up on Mal and the other VK's and make them unwelcome.

On the way to Ben's coronation Mal give Ben a chocolate which contains the anti love spell. Ben eats it but admits to Mal that her spell washed off in the Enchanted Lake.

At Ben's Coronation, Fairy Godmother's daughter Jane, feeling insecure and out of place (also after being manipulated by Mal) grabs her mothers wand and unknowingly makes a hole in the barrier around the Isle. Maleficent escapes the Isle, and before she arrives in Auradon the VK's have decided that they do not want to be evil and choose good.

Maleficent arrives and the VK's (mainly Mal) fight against her and she ends up turning into a tiny Lizard according to Fairy godmother the size of the love in her heart.

The films ends with the party after the coronation.

I enjoyed this film alot. I had wondered for a long time what would the kids of the Disney Prices and Princess be like and also what would the kids of the Villains be like. This fulfilled my imagination. I may be alot older than the fan base for this film but I enjoyed it all the same. It wasn't too cheesy and was very enjoyable.

TV Review: Designated Survivor Season 1 Episode 7 "The Traitor" [Emz]

Thursday 9 November 2017

So this episode takes you in so many different directions with all the stories happening. One part definitely tests President Kirkman's negotiation skills.

Here is the Synopsis:

An American track-and-field coach's trip to Russia forces Kirkman into a hostage exchange involving the CIA and the Russian government; Agent Wells and Deputy Director Atwood's investigation uncovers dangerous information

Review:

We begin with the arrest of Team USA's Gymnastics Coach in Russia and learning that he is a spy for the the CIA.

Kirkman has his work cut out to make a deal with Russia to release him.

President Kirkman's wife Alex. makes a trip to Jail to meet with her ex boyfriend who is making accusations about being Leo's father.

Hannah Wells of the FBI is digging deeper into Catalan and McLeish's involvement.

All the stories kept me on edge and I didn't know what was going to happen next. The way Kirkman dealt with the spy stuck in Russia was interesting and finding something Russia wanted to help free the Coach was a smart move.

Also the way that as Wells keeps getting closer to the truth, some people are determined that she is silenced. They go after her boss Atwood.

The pace never really slows down through each episode. I'm glad that the whole story doesn't just rely on the bombings and finding the culprit, but sub stories form throughout each episode.

I can't wait to see where the story takes us next.

TV Review: Doctor Who Series 1 Episode 12 "Bad Wolf" [Emz]

Wednesday 8 November 2017

We've almost reached the end of Series 1! Can you Believe it?!

So here we are with episode 12 'Bad Wolf.' We return to a familiar place from earlier in the series, but it has changed quite a bit and we have gone further forward in time.

This episode originally aired on the 11th June 2005 on BBC One. This is the first part of the last two-part episodes of this series.

Here is the synopsis:
The Doctor, Rose and Capt. Jack have to fight for their lives, but the Doctor soon realizes that Armageddon is fast approaching.

Review:

So the story opens with The Doctor, Jack and Rose part of Game shows. The Doctor is part of Big Brother, Jack is on What Not To Wear (an extreme edition) and Rose is on the Weakest Link.

Once the Amnesia clears, The Doctor remembers being of the TARDIS heading back from Kyoto, Japan 1336 when there was suddenly a bright light.

They begin to realize the games are not as they seem as if voted off you are incinerated.

Rose and The doctor begin to realize that they have been planted in the game. The Doctor is booted off Big Brother but isn't disintegrated which means that someone wants The Doctor there for a reason.

The Doctor escapes the games with Lynda, who he befriended in there. Jack catches up with him and they go in search of Rose.

Rose is from a different Century to the questions she is being asked in The Weakest Link and is kept on until the end so that guy can win. The doctor and Jack think They have made it on time just for her to be disintegrated before their eyes.

Whilst this is going on The Doctor realizes they are on Satellite 5 years later than last time.

The Doctor questions The Controller on who killed Rose. At first she is is unable to answer until the Solar flare gives her a few minutes to speak.

Before The Controller is killed by her Masters, She is unable to to tell The Doctor who she is working for as she cannot say their name. Jack works out during this time that Rose is still alive and the beam is a trans-mat beam and Rose was transported elsewhere. He also discovers where the TARDIS is.

The Trans-mat beam is traced and eventually shows thousands of Dalek ships and then the Doctor gets and incoming feed from the lead Dalek ship and The doctor informs Rose he's coming to get her.

This episode was really good. there were funny bit's, where the Robots of Tinny and Susanna from What not To Wear wanted to change Jack's appearance and give him a dogs head.

But the way we finally see the reveal of Bad Wolf and coming back to somewhere they had been before was really interesting and keeps you in suspense.

DVD Review: The Librarians Season 1 Episode 5 "And the Apple of Discord" [Emz]

Tuesday 7 November 2017

Now this episode was quite amusing. It definitely showed a different side to most of the Characters. We also have a brief reunion for one episode. Flynn rejoins the team.

Here is the synopsis:
When the dragons sleeping beneath the earth threaten to awaken, Flynn returns to help find their hidden treasure.

Review:

This episode was a little different. We saw the dark side of most of The Liberians. Flynn returns to the team with the troubling news that The Eastern Dragons are threatening a war unless a treasure of there's is found. The team travel underneath the Vatican to find this treasure only to come across the Brotherhood.

After finding the treasure, they find out it is actually the Apple of Discord. It causes both Jake and Cassandra to be the worst versions of themselves. Flynn eventually takes the Apple back to the Library under it's spell, but Ezekiel manages to take the Apple from his with no effect and they realize he is already the worst version of himself.

Whilst this is going on a Supernatural Meeting in being held to discuss this supposed act of war and The Library.

Of course The Brotherhood are involved in the creation of this meeting and want to shut down the Library. But Flynn manages to convince them otherwise, much to the Brotherhood's dismay.

Eve becomes full time Guardian and Flynn goes off to search for The Library once more.

I enjoyed we progression of this story, the actors got to play the worst versions of their characters and of course the brotherhood just wont quit. It was funny to see Ezekiel saving the day for once as he was the only one not affected by the Apple (makes a difference from the last episode when he became the best version of himself by wearing Santa's hat.)

Looking forward to the next episode.

Till then

TV Review: Designated Survivor Season 1 Episode 6 "The Interrogation" [Emz]

Monday 6 November 2017

This episode is quite deep. It's starts out with informing MacLeish that the Vice Presidency is an option for him.

Here is the synopsis:

A shooting at the White House during a governors' summit throws President Kirkman's plans to elect a new Congress into turmoil; Agent Hannah makes a shocking discovery in her investigation of the capitol bombing.

Review:

So This episode covers the beginning of MacLeish being vetted for VP (Vice President) and it is looking promising.

The FBI are Interrogating Majid Nassar and he eventually caves and gives them information on the real Terrorist "Catalan." Of course no one is able to work out who this person is.

Finally President Kirkman is dealing with 2 situations. He is throwing a governors Ball and whilst this is happening someone shoots at the White House. The only person injured in this attack in President Kirkman's Bodyguard Mike Ritter who was off Duty.

Following this, President Kirkman starts to attempt  to put together Congress. with difficulty.

I enjoyed this episode. It was full of twists and turns. From the Governor Ball, the interrogation and the shooting to the death of Majid Nassar, the interupted reveal about MacLeish and working out a way to form a Congress.

Nothing ran smoothly, but answers we formed by the end in some way, shape or form. It keeps you in suspense, on the edge of your seat.

I look forward to the next episode.

TV Review: Doctor Who Series 1 Episode 11 "Boom Town" [Emz]

Friday 3 November 2017

So we are nearing the end of Series 1! If you could see me writing this you would know that i'm making a sad face right now, haha. anyway on with the review.

This episode brings back an old face that we would have remembered from earlier in the series.

This episode aired on the BBC on the 4th June 2005.

Here is the Synopsis:

The Doctor encounters an enemy from his past when the crew decides to take a holiday; an alien plot is behind the construction of a nuclear power plant in Cardiff.

Review:

So in this episode we see the return of Margaret the Slitheen from the first of the double episodes Aliens of London/ World War Three. It seems that she has somehow survived the explosion that destroyed Downing Street and is now the Mayor in Cardiff.

Of course as we always know the Doctor is never looking for trouble and only stopped off in Cardiff to refuel and so rose could collect her passport from Mickey.

Obviously the Doctor comes to see what has happened to Margaret once they stop for Lunch.

They go to meet her and she tries to escape, with no success due to the Doctor being "good at teleports."

Margaret clearly has an ulterior motive for being in Cardiff and is trying to destroy the earth once again. This appears to be a running theme for her.

Mickey tells Rose he is seeing someone else, but ask her to come back to him evetually which she is unable to answer as the Rift has been ruptured.

After rupturing the rift with the extrapolater attached the the TARDIS, Margaret takes Rose hostage and the rest of the team are unable to do anything to stop it, until Margaret in bathed in white light from the Heart of the TARDIS and is turned into an egg so she can restart her life again.

The episode ends with The Doctor, Rose and Jack taking Margaret as an egg back to Raxacorofallapatorius.

io enjoyed the gags in this episode, from Jack's jokes to the teleport scene and also the way the Doctor is prepared for anything Margaret throws his way when they are out having food.

Here are a few of my favorite quotes from this episode:

Secretary: The Lord Mayor says, Thank you for popping by. She’d love to have a chat but she’s up to her eyes in paperwork. Perhaps if you could make an appointment for next week.
The Doctor: She’s climbing out the window, isn’t she?
Secretary: Yes she is.

Jack about Rose and Mickey: Aw, sweet. Look at these two. How come I never get any of that?
The Doctor: Buy me a drink first.
Captain Jack: Such hard work.
The Doctor: But worth it.

Thats all for this review

TV Review: Designated Survivor Season 1 Episode 5 "The Mission" [Emz]

Thursday 2 November 2017

Now this is where it's continues to get interesting.

This episode is mainly about the search & capture for Majid Nassar, who is suspected of the capital bombing.

Here is the synopsis:
Kirkman dispatches a team of Navy SEALs to Algeria after learning that the government helped Majid Nassar, one of the terrorists claiming responsbility for the Capitol bombing, elude custody; Wells learns the truth about MacLeish's movements on the night of the bombing; Alex finds out someone from her past has made a damning allegation.

Review:

This episode was really good. The fact that the majority of the episode is about the Navy SEAL's going to Algeria to capture Majid Nassar. This was the main focus of the episode, but it didn't detract form other issues that arose during the episode.

Hannah Wells FBI (Maggie Q) is continuing to uncover information surrounding the Capitol Bombing and surrounding Congressman McLeish's survival and the major possibility that he had/ has a role to play within the group responsible for the bombing . There still does not appear to be enough evidence to show that someone else was behind the bombing and to be able to share this information with the President.

There is a huge story unfolding that Leo may not be Kirkman's son and may be his wifes ex partner's child instead.

Kirkman has been trying to find a job for MacLeish and originally offers him speaker of the house, which he turns down.. just for Kirkman to think about offering him the Vice Presidency.

I enjoed all the twists this epiosde takes and that fact that it didn't miss out any other drama unfolding. Looking forward to seeing how this will progress in episodes I have yet to watch.

Till next time

DVD Review: Wonder Woman [Emz]

Wednesday 1 November 2017

I recently purchased this DVD a couple of weeks ago. I really enjoyed this film when I sawe it at the Cinema and couldn't wait to see it again.

The film stars Chris Pine and Gal Gadot.

Here is the synopsis of the film:
Before she was Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, Diana meets an American pilot (Chris Pine) who tells her about the massive conflict that's raging in the outside world. Convinced that she can stop the threat, Diana leaves her home for the first time. Fighting alongside men in a war to end all wars, she finally discovers her full powers and true destiny.

Review:

This film was brilliant. I enjoyed the way Gal Gadot portrayed Diana (Wonder Woman) as a member of the amazons at the beginning, being naive to the world outside. The way she didn't understand the way people lived and dressed, her mind was only focused on one thing.

Of course when Chirs Pines character of Steve, an american Pilot comes crashing through the barrier between the amazons home and the outside world everything changes.

Diana's character seems to grow throughout the film, becoming aware of things around her but still set on one important mission.

Of course not everything goes to plan and just as she thinks she has succeeded in her mission, she suddenly realizes that her mission hasn't been completed and the battle is just about to begin.

The fact that the story is set during World War 1 makes the tale more interesting, looking back into the past and the way this story works around alongside the war and doesn't overlook it completely.

We realize that the Diana that we meet in Batman V Superman as been around quite some time and has become accustomed to how people live.

I enjoyed this film immensely and feel that a female hero (origins story) is what is currently lacking in Marvel until 2019 (Captain Marvel) and that DC has pulled this film off very well.

There is supposed to be a sequel being released in 2019, where this film will fall in Diana's timeline i'm not sure but it will be interesting to see.

I look forward to seeing Justice League from the 17th November.

TV Review: The Gifted Season 1 Episode 2 "rX" [Emz]

Tuesday 31 October 2017

So it took me a while to watch the second episode due to being busy, but I finally managed it.

Here is the Synopsis:
After exerting her powers beyond their limits, Blink goes into a state of shock, forcing Caitlin and Eclipse to go on a mission to find a special serum that will help her to recover. Meanwhile, Reed faces some difficult choices when it comes to helping his family, and Polaris runs into some trouble.

This episode was really good. There are alot of things happening at once and alot of secrets yet to be mentioned.

We start with a direct continuation from the first episode with Blink (Clarice) collapses and Reed is left on the other side.

After a few arguements the kids realize that they cannot currently go back for their dad and along with htier mum decide to help Clarice.

During his time Clarice keeps opening portals in the same place and Lauren (Reed's daughter) is able to close them. She decides to stay with the team to help close the portals whilst her mother and Marcos (Eclipse) go to fnd medication to help her awaken from her Coma.

Of course, Reed gets picked up by the Police and interrogated. other family members are interrogated also.

Thing were not going so well for Polaris in Prison, with each time she used her powers she was electrocuted.

This episode kept me on the edge of my seat, not knowing when the next portal kept opening and as each portal opened in the same place each time, the Police appeared and eventually so did SWAT.

I look forward to the next episode.

TV Review: Doctor Who Series 1 Episode 10 "The Doctor Dances" [Emz]

Monday 30 October 2017

So... sorry for a slight absence. but here we are with Part 2 of  The Empty Child.

This episode is called The Doctor Dances. It first aired on the 28th May 2005 on BBC One.

Here is the synopsis:
The Child's plague is spreading throughout wartime London, and its zombie army is on the march. The Ninth Doctor and Rose form an alliance with intergalactic con man Captain Jack, but find themselves trapped in the abandoned hospital. They head to the crash site of Jack's supposed space junk and discover the ground zero for the mysterious plague.

Review:

So last time we saw the Doctor, Rose and Jack they were stuck in the Hospital surrounded by the people who had become Gas mask zombies... for the lack of a better word.

So as this episode begins, the Doctor shouts for them to go to their rooms. Of course not thinking they get trapped in the the the little boy with the Gas Mask's 'Room.'

The Doctor and Rose work out that Jack is the reason that that people are turning into Gas Mask Zombies as the empty 'ambulance' was what The Doctor and Rose followed into the Blitz and Jack released it.

The nano-genes which healed rose in the last episode are what was in the Ambulance and it didn't know what the difference was between the mask and his skin.

The Doctor Realises that Nancy is the boys mother and not his sister and the Nano genes fix the problems that couldn't be fixed before.

The doctor sends the Nano genes to heal all the other people affected, with some interesting side effects (a woman's leg grows back)

A the episode ends, The Doctor and Rose save Jack from sacrificing himself to save everyone from the bomb and they head off on adventures unknown.

This epiosde was the second half of the creepy episode and this one creeped me out just as much but I was glad there was a happy ending.

I loved the quote about a woman's leg growing back and Richard Wilson's character says "There is a war on, is it possible you miscounted?"

I love Doctor Who and would watch many episodes in a heart beat but this episode and The Empty Child are ones I wouldn't watch in a hurry, but never say never.

Thats all for now
