DVD Reviews: The Librarians Season 1 Premiere "And the Crown of King Arthur" [Emz]

So I have watched the series before, but not for a while. I was given the complete first season on DVD for my birthday so it's time to watch again.

Here is the Synopsis:
Someone is killing off potential Librarians and it's up to Flynn Carsen and his new Guardian, Colonel Eve Baird, to save the three that are left.

So *Spoilers* from here on out if you haven't seen this TV show.

So this TV series is a Spin-off from the original 3 films. The Series airs on the SyFy channel in the UK and TNT in the USA.

Review:

So we have a NATO anti-terrorist agent who ends up getting roped into working for a Librarian who works to keep magic out of the wrong hands. Collecting artefacts and storing them in the library.

The shows basic idea reminds me a little of Warehouse 13 (I miss that show)

So this is the first time I have seen Rebecca Romjin in something, since she played Mystique in the original X-men trilogy. She plays Eve Bird she was a NATO agent and was chosen by the Library to become the Guardian.

I like the whole idea of this show. Someone is killing people who were sent invitations to become the Librarian. The whole story is based around finding the crown of King Arthur.

The show has a comedic tone to it also.

of course the first episode end of a cliffhanger leaving you waiting till the next episode.

I like fantasy and sci-fi Shows, it always gives you little bit extra which you know is not real but is still awesome all the same.

This is a show I would recommend.

Thats it for my review.

Till next time

What i'm currently Watching #1 [Emz]

Wednesday 30 August 2017

I have a few shows that I am currently watching. I'll give you a quick rundown so you know what other reviews i'll be writing in the near future.

1. Daredevil - Season 2

Now I had been trying to complete season 1 for a long time and have only just managed to finish. Not because I didn't like the show, just life got in the way and then I ended up watching other shows, including Jessica Jones.

The best thing about this being a Netflix original is that the series is not going anywhere so you can take your time.

I am almost at the end of the first episode where we are introduced to a new villain.

Once i have finished this season I will review it.

2. Strike: The Cuckoo's Calling

So this is a brand new series on BBC One in the UK. It follows a private investigator being hired to look into the death of a model who fell off a Balcony.

The twists in the episodes are enough to keep you hooked. Monday night's cliffhanger was one that you saw coming but left you wanting answers straight away.

I will be reviewing this after next Sunday's episode.

3. Designated Survivor - Season 1

This show is kind of a post apocalyptic type of show.  The twists and turns throughout the series have really kept me hooked. i am currently on episode 10 but as the series is exclusive to Netflix in the UK I am able to take my time with the series. Definately worth a watch if you have seen films like Olympus has Fallen... and the other two like it.

Once I have completed this series, which I hope is before the end of the year, I will review

What are you currently watching? Anything to recommend?

Till next time

I'm going to see Everybody Talking about Jamie at the Apollo theatre in London, on November 18 for the 3rd time. I was lucky enough to see it twice at the Crucible theatre in Sheffield. This was before they announced that they got a theatre down in London. I was so pleased when I heard the news.

(Don't expect I will be nice guys if you reading this đŸ˜‚đŸ˜‚đŸ˜‚đŸ˜œđŸ˜˜)

2
I am going to review Hello Dolly now I saw this show at the curve not knowing anything about it for my 15th birthday present. Unknowingly that it was a film and it took me over 5 nearly 6 to get it on DVD.

3
Hairspray is one of my favorite musical it upbeat and "you can't stop the beat" or you most be "Without Love" for musical. Also there a songs that sums me up well not to a t because I'm not beautiful, and you guessed it. It is "Big, blonde and beautiful." I am not the beautiful part.

Merlin number 4 is like my favorite I can watch Merlin all day but there isn't enough hours in the day to do that.

Descendants 2 is the latest Disney movie by Kenny the same director of the High school musical films and was director of the "this is it" tour before the tragic death of Michael Jackson. I enjoyed watching the first descendants.

Julius Caesar at crucible theatre (Zee Tay)

I had the honour of watching Julius Caesar at the theatre and not any one but the crucible in Sheffield. Now I love going to the theatre but when I go I mainly choose musicals, so I thought that now might be a good experience to try out Shakespeare. Know I already knew a bit about Julius Caesar from history classes. Apart from that I knew very little about the plot.

On the day that I want was on the 22nd of May 2017 which any of you been keeping up with the news was the day of the Manchester attack at Ariana Granada concert. I was planning to go to that concert on that night but by the time I got to the site it was sold out. Thankfully for my sake that it was sold out, because I the had the chance to watch the amazing production directed by Robert Hestie instead.

I love all the cast from Samuel West and Arthur Hughes to Pandora Colin and Robinah Kironde. All the man look hot in uniform when it can to the second act which one of the ensemble agreed with me on. She was mainly was talking about Elliot Cowan. Which made us both start busting out with laughter another ensemble said we sound like Mrs brown and Winnie from Mrs Brown's boys. Which we kind of did on the last night. I was mainly thinking about someone else in uniform.

Everyone was so friendly which is a nice change from when I want to the theatre in Leicester as actors here spend time to talk to you and get more then a autograph or a picture. Which I really appreciated because I think that apart of going to the theatre. It shows us that they are willing to spend times with their fans.

Thank you everyone in the cast and the ensemble for making my first Shakespeare play a memorial one. Thanks Elliot for coming out still in costume to give me your autograph I was trying to get it from about 4:30. Thanks Arthur, Royce, Lily, Robinah and everyone else for being amazing. I love you all.

And Allison the honour all mine. It was a honour of watching you and then meeting you.

Movie Review:The Hitman's Bodyguard [Emz]

Monday 28 August 2017

I finally got to see this film on Saturday and really enjoyed it.

The film stars Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L Jackson.

Here is the premise:
The world's top protection agent is called upon to guard the life of his mortal enemy, one of the world's most notorious hit men. The relentless bodyguard and manipulative assassin have been on the opposite end of the bullet for years and are thrown together for a wildly outrageous 24 hours. During their journey from England to the Hague, they encounter high-speed car chases, outlandish boat escapades and a merciless Eastern European dictator who is out for blood.

Review:

To be honest I needed a good laugh along with the action and that is what I got. Reynold's character is a Protection Agent who after the death of a Client loses his top ranking status.

Following this a Hitman (Jackson) is being taken to Brussles to the Hague to give evidence in a case against an evil European Dictator.

Reynold's Character ends up protecting him after an Interpol Agent discovers a leak within the agency.

So they end up travelling from the UK to Brussels via The Netherlands and they are being pursued every step of the way.

The funny thing I found was, after just finishing watching Marvel's The Defenders, who should pop up in this film but the Actress who played Elektra, Ă‰lodie Yung.

The film also starred Gary Oldman as Vladislav Dukhovich, a merciless dictator of Belarus, Salma Hayek as Sonia Kincaid and Richard E. Grant as Seifert.

I would recommend this film as the cast are brilliant and all the funny bits link in to the action also. By the end of it I was no longer picturing Deadpool and Nick Fury.

Hope you enjoyed the review.

If you have seen this film, let me know what you thought.

Till next time

The rough night (Zee Tay Review)

Rough night
Year: 2017
Genre Comedy
Age rating: 15

Plot: Rough Night is a 2017 American dark comedy film directed by Lucia Aniello (in her feature debut) and written by Aniello and Paul
 W. Downs. It stars Scarlett Johansson, ZoĂ« Kravits, Jillian Bell and Ilain Glazer, and follows a bachelorette party that goes wrong after a male stripper dies.

Review:

When I watched this I didn't know what to expect, because I didn't see the trailers, nor see any of the reviews. So I didn't know what it was about. I thought that I might enjoy it as it has some well known actresses.

I was truly enjoy it, even though it was kinda of dark in topic, it was funny, and that something, as it not like me to enjoy comedy.

It was surprising how Lucia and Paul manager to create a comedy film about some people accidentally killing somebody, and then basically becoming heroes.

However I have to give it a warning it contains, strong language, sex reference, and drug misuse.

TV Review: The Defenders [Emz]

Sunday 27 August 2017

I finally finished this yesterday and it was awesome!

As I mentioned previously, the series brings together Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist.

Here is the Premise:
Set a few months after the events of the second season of Daredevil, and a month after the events of the first season of Iron Fist, the vigilantes Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist team up in New York City to fight a common enemy: the Hand.
Now before we continue SPOILERS!!!!!

Review:

So, I finally finished this series after starting it on Tuesday. So the series doesn't start with the tea,  together, it starts with them all separate but they all soon find out they are all somehow investigating The Hand.

The combination on Personalities is really funny, With the slight awkwardness between Jessica and Luke after what happened in Jessica Jones Season 1 was addressed.

I found that Danny Rand AKA Iron Fist was a little Out of his Depth and due to him growing up on a hidden island and losing his parents, he can still act like a little child.

Sigourney Weaver was a brilliant Villain, it was more Manipulation that shear fighting with her but her character definitely made an impact.

With the resurrection on Elektra and bring all the friends of Matt (Daredevil), Jessica, Luke and Danny into the show, it worked very well.

Brilliant show and I would recommend watching.

Now for me to catch up with Iron Fist and Daredevil before The Punisher is released in possibly November.

Till next time

Game of Thrones: Season Finale & Where the Hell is Daenerys?

Saturday 26 August 2017

BE CAREFUL! THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS, BUT HEY! WE ALL KNOW WINTER IS HERE!

The Season Finale of Game of Thrones season seven is extremely close and what a season it's been! We've had battles, EPIC battles, White Walkers, Dragons (yes, we are still mourning at the loss), Torture, Secrets and well the list could go on and on! Although this season is the shortest ever, we haven't been left disappointed. In this icy article, we'll look over what to expect from the finale and we'll try to put forth some clues as to WHERE IN ALL OF WESTEROS IS DAENERYS TARGARYEN?

So first of all, lets give you ALL the details of the finale...
  • Episode: The Dragon & The Wolf (S07,E07)
  • Writers: David Benioff & D.B. Weiss
  • Director: Jeremy Podeswa
  • Runtime: 79 MINUTES!!! - (Longest ever episode!

There's only one war that matters, and it is here!
Yes Jon Snow, we know! So the first two sets of images tease something we've all been waiting for! Nearly every important character will attend the peace-pact meeting at the Dragonpit! We'll see Cersei, Jamie, Jon, Tyrion, Brienne, and many others all gather to show Cersei that the threat coming from the North is more important than the fight for the Iron Throne!

Well this image tells us one thing.... It's going to be a frosty reunion between Tyrion and his sister Cersei! Let's not forget the reason Cersei hates her brother is because he killed their father, and unfortunately caused the death of their mother, who died giving birth to him. She also held a grudge towards him for the death of her spoilt brat Joffrey, however she's since learned that it was Lady Olenna who killed off her wicked son! Whatever happens, we don't expect these two will run into each others arms!

So NOW you need to ask yourself.... WHERE IN ALL OF WESTEROS IS DAENERYS?

Daenerys has undoubtedly been the main player this season, her long awaited arrival to Westeros was indeed epic. We've seen her unleash her beloved Drogon on the Lannister army, and the White Walkers. Last week, we saw her loose one of her dragons, Viserion (we will still mourn for you), so maybe in the finale, she's took the day off? NO! Don't be silly! She's the Mother of Dragons, Breaker of Chains, The Unburnt, The Khaleesi of The Great Grass Sea! So here are some ideas as to what Dany could be up to in the finale and maybe they can reveal why HBO have kept her out of all promotional images and trailers for the finale!

  • (1) Daenerys could be about to make a DRAMATIC entrance to the Dragonpit! Many believe the reason why she's being kept hidden from promo images and trailers is because the writers have planned for Dany to land down in front of Cersei on Drogon, just to show her who's boss!
  • (2) Maybe because of her recent loss, Dany believes things are moving too slow, so, whilst everybody is at the meeting, could Dany burn the Lannister Army or Euron Greyjoy's fleet of ships?
  • (3) Knowing Cersei the way Tyrion does, maybe he's persuaded her to stay at home with a cuppa!
Who knows? However, there is a reason as to why she's being left out, and there's not long left to find out why!

So back to the finale preview...

The above images see Jamie and Bronn look out across Dany's army, the Unsullied and Dothraki. We're not suprised they look a bit cautious after the last time they came face to face with them. (Slaughter, come to mind?) However, with Cersei around, could she have a plan to wipe them all out? After all, she can't really be trused... can she?

Theon looks a bit wary here... he's presumably standing on the bay of Dragonstone, however, could this be before or after the meeting? Could he be worried over not getting his sister back? Or has he?

The last two images take us back up to Winterfell! Above you can see a rather thoughtful looking Sansa and below her, a nice picture of Bran warming up to the flames in the fire. We're not quite sure as to why we haven't seen a picture of Ayra, perhaps, HBO are keeping her locked away for some reason too! Last time we saw her, she was explaining her faces to a very worried looking Sansa, with the two sisters not getting on, could Ayra finally click that nastly Littlefinger is behind it all? Or has she been playing him this whole entire time? (MIND-BLOWN)

It won't be long til we find out how the finale will play out however, we're sure of a couple of things! Cersei will have something wicked up her sleeve, the Walkers will most probably burn the wall down and Jon and Dany may have S*X!

You can catch the season finale of Season 7 of Game of Thrones at 9pm EST on HBO in America or if you're in the UK you can watch at the same time as the US by tuning into Sky Atlantic at 2am Monday morning! Don't forget to join Sue Perkins if you're in the UK by watching her final Thronecast which will be aired immediately after the 9pm viewing of the finale in the UK on Monday Night! Check back here Tuesday for an ultimate review!

Thanks for reading, oh and by the way I'm a new guest writer, TheKhaloftheGreatGrassSea! Yep, I'm a massive thrones fan along with anything to do with Who, Potter, Drama, Drama and more Drama! So until the next time.... ADIOS!
